Darwin Eugene “Gene” Burns
Darwin Eugene “Gene” Burns, 73, of Agency, MO passed away Monday, February 11, 2013 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on January 12, 1940 to Leonard William and Mary Elizabeth (McColgin) Burns in Reydon, OK where he grew up and graduated from High School. Gene received his Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma State University.
On August 3, 1963 he was united in marriage to Elenita Thimling. After their marriage they moved to St. Joseph, MO and later moved to rural Agency where they made their home.
Gene was a hog buyer for Armour & Co. and several other hog plants for 34 years. He later worked for the State of Missouri as a petroleum inspector where he retired after 13 years. Gene loved being outdoors and working in his garden.
He was a member of the Frazier Baptist Church.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Don Burns and Dan Burns.
He is survived by his wife Elenita of the home; children, Greg Burns and wife Paula, Todd Burns and wife Mary Jo and Kerri Perks and husband Kent; grandchildren, Bryson and Genifer Burns, Cali and Cage Burns and Peyton, Kaden and Konnor Perks; sister, Kay Lovett and husband Tom; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Celebration of Life: 10:00 a.m. Friday 15th at the Frazier Baptist Church.
The body has been cremated and an Inurnment will be held at a later date at Frazier Cemetery
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hands of Hope Hospice or the Frazier Baptist Church Building Fund.
