Darrell R. Nye

Darrell R. Nye, 58, of Kansas City, MO, passed away, Friday, May 25, 2007.

He was born on August 9, 1948 to Kenneth and Doris (Monroe) Nye in Chicago, Illinois. The family later moved to Dearborn where he graduated from North Platte High School. Darrell then served his country in the U.S. Air Force for over eleven years. After his honorable discharge he returned to the Dearborn area.

On October 19, 1981 he was united in marriage to Kathy Thornton. After their marriage they lived in Platte City, Ferrelview, and later moved to Kansas City.

Darrell worked for Big V in Smithville, Walmart, KCI Shuttle, Holiday Inn, and later Sun Fresh all in Kansas City.

He was a member of the Dearborn United Methodist Church.

Darrell was preceded in death by his father and his father-in-law, Marvin Miller.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy, of the home, son, John Thornton, Hesperia, CA; mother, Doris Nye, Platte City, MO; two brothers, David Nye, Platte City, MO, and Mike Nye and wife, Dana, Villa Ridge, MO; mother-in-law, Madeline Miller, Kansas City, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 1:00 P.M., Thursday, May 31^st at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, Mo.

Burial with Military Honors: Ridgely Mo. Cemetery

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 P.M., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
