Darrel Joseph Meade
Darrel Joseph Meade, 66, of Gower, MO passed away January 14, 2008 at his home.
He was born on January 21, 1941 to Harvey James and Dora Clay (Jacks) Meade in St. Joseph, MO where he grew up and graduated from Benton High School.
On November 25, 1967 he was united in marriage to Hazel Keyes. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph and in 1970 moved to Gower where they made their home.
Darrel was a floral designer for many years in the St. Joseph area. He also owned and operated Darrel‘s Flowers and Gifts in Gower, was a manger at Bee Wayne‘s Bakery in St. Joseph and a store manager at Hochenauer’s Grocery store in Gower for several years.
He was a member of the Gower Christian Church and the Gower Lion’s Club where he was past president and served as the clubs Santa Claus for many years. Darrel’s favorite past time was spending time with his grandchildren.
Darrel was preceded in death his parents and one sister, Karen Marriott.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel of the home, daughter, Amy Terry and husband, Bill, Plattsburg, MO, son, Joe Meade and wife, Aspen, Savannah, MO, five grandchildren, Crystal and Sadie Terry and Carson, Brooklynne and McKenna Meade, his twin sister, Carol McKinney and husband, Ronnie, Dekalb, MO, two brothers, Gary and Terry Meade both of St. Joseph, several nieces and nephews including Jodie Parkhurst and Ray Aspey, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 18th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home Gower
Burial: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home
Donation may be made to the Gower Christian Church Building Fund.
