Darlene Saale

Darlene Saale, 76, of Gower, MO passed away, February 26, 2024.

She was born on July 18, 1947 to Carroll and Geneva (Willard) Grimes in Chillicothe, MO. Darlene grew up in Chillicothe and graduated from Chillicothe High School. On June 12, 1965 she was united in marriage to John Saale. After their marriage they lived in Chillicothe. During John’s military service they were stationed in the northeast. In 1971 they moved to Gower where they made their home.

Darlene worked in customer service most of her career. She started work in a jewelry store, worked as a telephone operator, a receptionist at an insurance office and a clerk at the local grocery store. Darlene was best known in Gower for her job at Kwik Korner, where she worked for several years. She also enjoyed the years that she was able to stay home with her children. After retirement, she loved being able to help with her grandchildren whenever needed. 

She was a member of the Gower Christian Church. Darlene enjoyed arts and crafts and loved to make special pieces for friends and family. She was fluent in calligraphy and loved writing and journaling. Darlene loved playing Bunco with her friends and was a charter member of a group that started playing in 1973.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Darlene is survived by her husband, John; daughter, Dalyn (Boyce) Farr; son Devin (Melissa) Saale; grandchildren, Hunter Farr, Gracen Farr, Collin Saale, Nolan Saale, Brooklyn Saale; step-grandson, Trevor Farr; several Saale brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 5th at the Gower Christian Church.

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, March 4th at the Gower Christian Church.

Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower, MO.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Gower Christian Church or the Gower Convalescent Center.

    My younger brother, Jason Wells, and I were friends with Dalyn and Devin, so we spent a lot of time around them, and Darlene was always so nice to us. Lots of great memories with the Saale’s.
