Darlene Jean Coakley
Darlene Jean Coakley, 83, of rural Smithville in Platte County, passed away, Monday, June 13, 2016.
She was born on May 17, 1933 to Arthur Preston and Lillian Belva (Newham) Taylor in Weeping Water, NE where she grew up and graduated from High School.
On June 14, 1953 she was united in marriage to Orlo William Coakley at her family’s farm in Weeping Water, Nebraska. After their marriage they lived in Nebraska and California, later settling in Gashland. They moved to Smithville in 1983. Orlo passed away on January 8, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; brother Art Taylor Jr.; and sister Beverly Taylor.
Darlene is survived by two daughters, Kathleen and husband, Dr. Larry Richards and Susan Coakley Clark; grandchildren, Ben Richards and wife Xiomara, Michael Richards and wife Jessika, Ryan Clark and Chelsea Coakley; great-grandson Orlo Benjamin Richards; sisters-in-law June Bye and Betty Taylor; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18th with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. all at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
Burial: Terrrace Park Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Donations may be made to the Grace Community Church Building Fund.
