Daniel Lee Pemberton

Danny Pemberton, 64 of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Smithville, passed away, Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at his home.

 

He was born on September 9, 1949 to Rueben Lee and Lettie Lee (Corum) Pemberton in Smithville, MO.  He grew up in Smithville and was a member of the Boy Scouts, and he graduated from Smithville High School in 1967 where he was active in sports.

 

On May 28, 1977 he was united in marriage to Teresa Ann Richey.  After their marriage they lived in the Kansas City area where they made their home.  His wife, Teresa, passed away February 2, 2008.

 

Danny was a systems analyst for Farmland Industries for over 20 years and retired from DST.

 

He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville.  Danny enjoyed coaching his son’s baseball team.  His favorite pastimes were writing poetry, riding his Harley, and he was an avid Chiefs and Jayhawks fan.

 

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

 

Danny is survived by his children, Candace DaSilva and husband Regis, Derek Pemberton and wife Tonja, and Kira Hall and husband Kent; grandchildren, Daniel, Layla, Chance, Erica, Cambria, Aurora and Liliana; sister, Linda Brown and husband Cliff; mother-in-law, Dorothy Richey; fiancé, Pam Beaman; other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Services: 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9th at the First Baptist Church, Smithville.

Burial:  Smithville Memorial Cemetery

Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday at the church.

Arrangements, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

Donations may be made to the church.
