Clifford E. Shanks

Clifford E. Shanks, 62, of Platte City, MO passed away Saturday, January 3, 2015.

 

He was born on February 29, 1952 to Junior and Roberta Marie (Clayton) Shanks in St. Joseph, MO.  He grew up near Dearborn and graduated from North Platte High School in 1970.  Cliff served in the Air National Guard for six years.

 

On November 19, 1971 he was united in marriage to Karen Russell.  After their marriage they lived in Dearborn and in 1977 they moved to Platte City where they made their home.

 

Cliff retired from the telephone company after 40 years and one day.   He enjoyed hunting, fishing, attending his grandchildren?s activities, and being with his family.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Norma Jean.

 

Cliff is survived by his wife, Karen, of the home; sons, Christopher Shanks and wife Rebecca, Cameron, MO and Timothy Shanks and wife Amanda, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Caleb, Karlie, TJ, Tyson; brother John Edward ?Eddie? Shanks; good buddy, Harold Coons; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Services:  10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 7th at Dearborn United Methodist Church.

Burial: Dearborn Cemetery, Dearborn, MO

Visitation:  5:00-9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Arrangements Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. www.lls.org
