Clella Fern (Heath) Hedrick

Clella Fern Hedrick, 92, of Smithville, MO passed away Saturday, April 5, 2008.

Fern was born on February 5, 1916 to Daniel and Clella M. (McHenry) Heath in Platte County near Smithville. She graduated from Smithville High School where she was an honor student and accomplished pianist.

On April 12, 1936 she was united in marriage to Byron Hedrick. He preceded her in death on December 27, 1984.

Fern taught school for two years, worked as a civilian employee of the U.S. Navy during WW II in Honolulu, Hawaii, having traveled there by troop ship from San Francisco. She returned to Missouri in 1948. Fern retired in 1973 from the Unity School of Christianity, Lee’s Summit, MO.

Fern was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Wilbur Heath and Willard Heath; and three sisters, Mary Rule, Laura B. McCaslin and Martha Daniels.

She is survived by sisters, Cora Borgmier, Kansas City, MO., Jean Kindred-Lytle, Sun City, AZ, Patsy Holland, Independence, MO and Dianne Bockelman, Warsaw, MO, numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

MEMORIAL SERVICE: 1:00 P.M., Friday, April 11^th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

INURNMENT: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville.
