Claude Stevens
Claude Stevens, 92, of Kansas City, MO passed away, Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 10, 1923 to Logan Ross and Imo (McCorkle) Stevens in Nashua, MO, and graduated from Liberty High School in 1941.
On January 17, 1945 he was united in marriage to Jean Isabel Hughes. After their marriage they farmed near Nashua and in 1952 they moved to Kansas City where they made their home. His wife, Jean, passed away in 2007.
Claude was a warehouse supervisor for Farmland Industries in Kansas City, retiring in 1986.
He was an active longtime member and deacon of the Nashua Baptist Church. Claude loved his family and friends and treasured all the hugs he got every Sunday at church. He enjoyed working in his yard and garden, although in recent years the garden had shrunk to only a few plants. In earlier years, Claude and his wife Jean, enjoyed traveling the U.S. with their grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, Logan Hughes Stevens; sister, Virginia Larkin; and brothers, Buddy Stevens, Bobby Stevens, and Richard Stevens.
Claude is survived by his daughter, Susan Hanks; grandchildren, Doug Harding, Candace (Keith) Fortner, Meegan (Brian) Trerice, and Chris Stevens; great grandchildren, Nicole (Jason) Vineyard, Jake Fortner, Rachel Fortner, Alec Sandgren, Alonzo Stevens, and Anthony Stevens; great-great-grandchildren, Katie and Charly Vineyard; sisters, Naomi Lyon and Mary Tipton; and brothers, Roy Stevens and Russell Barnes; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 13th at Nashua Baptist Church in 11408 N. Main Kansas City, MO 64155
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church.
Arrangements, Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Nashua Baptist Church.

Our hearts go out to the family. We love u all VERY much. I am extremely happy to have been able to meet grandpa before he passed and to have met the family. Alonzo and I love you all very much and I know he misses his great grandpa.
