Chester Roy Wilson

Chester Roy Wilson, 87, of Hemple, MO passed away Saturday, August 2, 2014.

 

He was born on September 14, 1926 to Eugene and Blanche (Cline) Wilson on the Tom Beach Farm in Weston, MO.  Chet attended school in Rushville and St. Joseph.

 

November 20, 1948 he was united in marriage to Rosemary Jo Hendren.  After their marriage lived in St. Joseph and in 1954 moved to Hemple where they made their home and raised their three children.  Rosie passed away on May 26, 2013.

 

Chet started working for the U.S. Corp Engineers in 1945, retiring in 1981 at the age of 55.  He had worked as an inspector, drag line operator and dozer operator, building levees and reservoirs throughout Missouri and Kansas.  Chet farmed his whole life and also helped Glen and Dale Bower constructing new homes including building Freeman Chapel Church. 

 

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in St. Joseph, Hemple and Gower and the Gower Old Timers Hall of Fame. Chet and Rosie grew sweet corn and tomatoes for all family and friends to enjoy.  Chet had a passion for motorcycles, Allis-Chalmers tractors and Toyota pickup trucks.  He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing and hunting any animal.  Chet especially enjoyed coffee shop visits at Wiedmaier’s Truck Stop sharing stories with friends. 

 

He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers Clarence and David Wilson, an infant grandson Harley Dean Wilson and infant great-granddaughter Christina Rae Auxier.

 

Chet is survived by his children, Cindy Tripp and husband Chuck, Stewartsville, MO, Doug Wilson and wife Donna, Stewartsville, MO and Lisa Gay Wilson, St. Joseph, MO;  five grandchildren, Curtis Auxier, Amy Morgan, Jason Wilson and wife Rachel, Rachel Buckner, and Katey Buckner; six great-grandchildren, Austin and wife Hayley, Dalton, Garrett, Dylan, Jalyn, and Hannah; great-great-grandson Declan Auxier; sister-in- law, Esta Lee Wilson, St. Joseph, MO; other relatives and many friends. 

 

Masonic and Funeral Services: 6:30 p.m. Tuesday August 5th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation following until 9:00 p.m.

Donations may be made to American Cancer Society or the Disabled American Veterans.
