Charlie Barr
Charles Edward Barr, Jr. 81, of Gladstone, MO passed away, September 7, 2023.
He was born on September 17, 1941 to Charles Edward Sr. and Margaret F. (Gerling) Barr in Marshall, MO. Charlie grew up in Marshall and graduated from St. Pius X High School in Kansas City, MO. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
On June 11, 1966 he was united in marriage to Cheryl K. Knipp. After their marriage they lived in Gladstone where they made their home. His wife, Cheryl, preceded him in death on February 17, 2021.
Charlie was a car salesman for Raytown Dodge for over 20 years. He was a car enthusiast and had a passion for anything to do with cars. He was affectionately referred to as “Bud” by his family.
He was a devout member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Kansas City for over 40 years. He was also preceded in death by his parents.
Charlie is survived by his children, Michael (Megan) Barr, Karen Joslin, and Cathy Hartley; grandchildren, Sophie, Eli, Delaney, Allen, Jordan, Ben, Elizabeth, and Sarah; sisters, Kathy Barr, Eileen (David) VanTasell, and Mary Ann (Rick) Talley; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
The family will be hosting a Funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. Friday, October 13th at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Gladstone, MO with visitation from 10:30-11:30 a.m. prior.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association or St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
