Charles William Roberts
Charles William “Charlie Bill” Roberts, 82, of Edgerton, MO, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012
He was born on October 15, 1930 to James Henry and Retta Mae (Teeple) Roberts in Buchanan County, Missouri. He grew up in the Edgerton area and graduated from North Platte High School. Charlie Bill then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
On June 11, 1960 he was united in marriage to Josie Irene Dolbow Sessions. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton where they made their home. His wife, Irene, passed away, May 30, 2010.
Charlie Bill was a Truck Driver most of his life, hauling grain, hay, and fuel in the area. He owned a service station in Edgerton for a few years in the 1960’s, and was a popular hangout for local kids. Charlie Bill enjoyed Domino games, hanging out with his late friend, Rex Grisham, and always helped anyone in need. He loved his cats, usually strays who found his house. Charlie also enjoyed having lunch at Cook’s Corner Café, and always had an ample supply of Coke, his drink of choice in recent years.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bonnie Roberts Shipps, niece Dawn Roberts and step-son, Seth Robert Sessions.
Charlie Bill is survived by his step-children, Sharron Ann Pettite, Maysville, MO, Irene Pierson, Turney, MO, Atina Barnett, Edgerton, MO, and J.R. Sessions; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; brother, J.C. Roberts and wife Colleen, Edgerton, MO, brother-in-law, Eldon Shipps; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21st at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home
Burial: Reed Cemetery, Trimble, MO
