Charles William “Bill” Watson
Bill Watson, 82, of St. Joseph, MO, formerly of Hemple, MO, passed away, Sunday, February 19, 2012 at his home.
He was born on January 15, 1930 to Russell Clay and Elma Paulette (Stephens) Watson near Hemple, MO. Bill graduated from Gower High School. He then served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
On June 28, 1957 he was united in marriage to Betty Jeane Abernathy. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph where they made their home. His wife, Betty, passed away, August 27, 2005.
Bill worked for Wire Rope in St. Joseph, retiring after 35 years of service.
He was an avid music lover and enjoyed playing in several bands. Bill was President of the Country Music Association. He was a member of the American Legion Post #359 in St. Joseph and the Bethany Christian Church in Stewartsville.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Duke and brother, Robert L. Watson.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Robin L. Green and husband Richard, St. Joseph, MO; six grandchildren, John Charles Duke and wife Sherrie, Brett M. Duke and wife, Cher, Chrystal L. Greene, Amanda J. Greene and fiancé Jim Knaebel, Sean M. Greene and Destinee R. Green; great-grandchildren, Devin, Wyatt, Eliana, Kary, Bethany, and Gordon; one great-great-granddaughter, Kieara; brother, J.C. Watson, St. Joseph, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

robin its been a long time ..i have looked you up on facebook and was unable to fine you then i was looking at the paper and seen your dad and that smile of his iam so sorry for your lose if you need anything please let me know..we (the old bunch from pacific st. miss you and really want to say hi ..take care and prayers for you and your family your old friend kathy

Not a day goes by that I dont think of you. The house seems really empty now that you are gone. Its been almost two years. I hope you are having fun in heaven. I miss you a lot. I miss baking cookies with you and all of your wonderful stories.
I wish you could have stayed longer, but I know you would have been really proud of me.
