Charles “Jack” Hughes, Jr.
Charles ?Jack? Hughes, Jr., 71, of Easton, MO, passed away Saturday, June 7, 2008.
He was born on February 4, 1937 to Charles J. Hughes, Sr. and Helen (Jensen) Hughes in Easton where he grew up and graduated from Easton High School.
Jack worked for Jim Jackson and General Tires. After completing school for operating boilers, he worked at Wonder Bread, Ralston Purina and Cameron State Prison.
He was of the Presbyterian Faith. Jack belonged to the Tanglefoot Square Dance Club, Moonlighters CB Club, was a Boy Scout Leader and a volunteer fireman. He enjoyed bowling and collecting model tractors and airplanes. Jack was very active in mini tractor pulls where he won several trophies.
Jack was married to Janet Hughes Jones for over 30 years. They had five children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a nephew Timothy Hughes and a long time friend, Helen Farnsworth.
Jack is survived by sons, Mitchel Hughes and wife, Gloria, Michael Hughes and Charles Hughes and wife, Christi all of St. Joseph, MO, and Robert Hughes and wife, Lisa, Kansas City, MO; daughter, Loretta Hughes-Austin and husband, Lonnie, St. Joseph; grandchildren, Amber and husband, Blake, Jackie and husband, Tyler, Mallory, Nick and wife, Amber, Jacob, Hanna, Megan, Maddie, Jaxon, Piper, Julia, Robert, Jr. Kali, Bryson, and Javian; great-grandchildren, Baylee, Ethan and Makenzie; brothers, Ronald E. Hughes, St. Joseph, and Kenneth L. Hughes, Helena, MO; sister, Karen Finley, Oklahoma City, OK, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 12th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Burial: Kerns-Freeman Cemetery, Easton, MO
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home
