Charles Eugene West
He was born on September 22, 1927 to David McTeer and Ethel Elnora (Mayes) West in Vinita, Oklahoma. Charles grew up and attended school in Independence, Missouri. He served his country in the US Marine Corps during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he lived in Kansas City, MO.
On June 6, 1972, he was united in marriage to Joyce Budine. After their marriage, they lived in Kansas City and in 1992 they moved to Smithville where they made their home.
Charles was a truck driver for Arkansas Motor Freight and later owned and operated Clay-Platte Disposal for 21 years, retiring in 1992.
Charles was a member of AFL-CIO Local #41 for 21 years and was also a member of I.B.E.W.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Dewey, Lloyd, Glen and Chester; and two sisters Marjorie Chilcutt and Mary Shryock.
Charles is survived by his wife Joyce West; son William West; step-daughter Denise Kessinger and husband Glen; grandchildren Katie, Sam, Adam and Natali; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Inurnment will be held later at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, MO
