CHARLES B. WOODSON

Charles Benjamin Woodson, 86, of Camden Point, MO passed away Thursday July, 6, 2006 at his home.

He was born on October 25, 1919 to Raymond Benjamin and Eugenia (Willis) Woodson in Camden Point, MO where he grew up and graduated from Camden Point High School. Charles B. later served his country in the US Army during WWII in the 90th Division of the 343rd Artillery as a special messenger for the Headquarters Battery. During battle, while giving a fellow soldier a drink of water, he lost his eyesight. He received the Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. After his honorable discharge, he returned to Parkville, MO.

On March 1, 1943 he was united in marriage to Delilah Irene Downing. After their marriage they lived in Parkville. They later moved to the Camden Point area where they made their home. His wife, Delilah passed away on November 21, 2000.

Charles B. was baptized and a lifelong member of the Camden Point Christian Church where he was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was also a member of the Presbyterian Church in Parkville, the Blinded Veterans Association and a lifelong member of the American Legion in Parkville.

He was a farmer and after losing his eyesight learned the carpentry trade.

Charles B. was also preceded in death by his parents, son, John Benjamin Woodson, two grandchildren, Barbara Gail Springs and Charles Eugene Woodson, and three sisters, Lillian Polite, Helen Woodson, and Katherine Woodson.

He is survived by his children, Ruby Katherine Springs, Camden Point, Charles Raymond Woodson and wife, Lila Jean, Camden Point, and Alan Lee Woodson, and wife, Connie Sue Uniontown, KS., six grandchildren, Kelley Jean DePriest, Valerie Jean Davey, Darrell Jason Springs, Raymond Benjamin Woodson, Wayne Wesley Springs and Jenny Lee Kurtz, five great-grandchildren, Bobbie Jo Hopkins, Jodie Lynn Hopkins, Shellbi Lee Springs, Allison Sue Kurtz and Jessica Erin Smith. He is also survived by many friends of the Camden Point and Platte County communities. He had a wonderful support by many families in his life.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 8th at the Camden Point Christian Church with visitation from 9:30-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
