CATHERINE GIDDENS WATERS

Catherine Giddens Waters, 93, of St. Joseph, formerly of the Frazier Community, passed away, Sunday, April 24, 2005 at a care center in St. Joseph.

She was born on October 2, 1911 to Orin Lee and Mary Grace (Dunbar) Ratcliff in Buchanan County. She attended Malden School and later graduated from Gower High School.

On July 24, 1929 she was united in marriage to Norman Giddens. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph where they operated Morningside Dairy. They later returned to the Frazier Community where they farmed and Catherine operated the Giddens Turkey Farm. They retired in 1975 and moved to St. Joseph. Her husband, Norman, passed away, November 16, 1976. Catherine later married Forrest L. Waters and he preceded her in death in 1992.

Catherine was a member of the Frazier Baptist Church and the Fairview-Malden Extension Club.

She was also preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Norma Jean Powell.

Catherine is survived by her son, John V. Giddens and wife, Judy, St. Joseph, son-in-law, Dick Powell, Kansas City, Kansas, five grandchildren, Tim Giddens and wife, Angie, Susan Kerns and husband, J.D., Carolyn Sand and husband, Duke, Diane Caldwell and husband, Bob, Nancy Evans and husband, Joe, and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two step-sons, Leslie Waters, Kansas City, Mo. and John W. Waters, St. Joseph, Mo., and step-daughter, C. Jocile Wilson, Grass Lake, Michigan.

FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, April 27th, at the Frazier Baptist Church
BURIAL: Frazier Cemetery
VISITATION: 6:30-8:30 P.M., Tuesday, at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Donations: Kendallwood Hospice or Frazier Baptist Church.
