Carol Petitt

Carol Petitt, 72, of Smithville, MO passed away, Saturday, January 2, 2016.

She was born on January 31, 1943 to Ervin Oscar and Gladys Geraldine (Ryan) Arb in Gladewater, TX.  She graduated from Smithville High School in 1961.  Carol then attended business school in Kansas City.

On September 22, 1961 she was united in marriage to Jerry Petitt.  After their marriage they lived in Smithville and in 1973 they moved to Paradise where they made their home.

Carol worked for the Smithville Convalescent Center and the Smithville High School.  She then enjoyed her time at home taking care of her granddaughter.  Carol also worked at Big V in Smithville until her retirement.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville.  Carol and Jerry were members of the Boots and Bows Square Dance Club where they served as officers.  Carol and Jerry were also instrumental in forming the Starlight Twirlers teaching many children to square dance.  Carol’s hobbies included crocheting, sewing and camping.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Bob Arb.

Carol is survived by her husband, Jerry, of the home; two daughters, Jerri Lynn Johnston and husband Tom and Connie Helm; grandchildren, Chandalynn Helm, Daniel Johnston, Brandon Helm and Steffani Johnston; other relatives and friends.

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service.
