Carl Virgle Ford
Carl Virgle Ford, 80, of Kansas City, formerly of Grayson, MO, went to be with the Lord Thursday, September 27, 2007.
He was born on March 12, 1927 to Albert Earnie and Sarah Isabelle (Jennings) Ford in Pickeson, MO. Carl Virgle grew up in Marionville, MO and later graduated from Plattsburg High School.
Carl Virgle then served his country in the US Navy during WWII where he was a Seaman 1St Class on the USS Shenandoah. After his honorable discharge he returned to Plattsburg.
On November 15, 1953 he was united in marriage to Elsie Marie Pemberton. After their marriage they lived in the Kansas City area, moving to Grayson in 1987 and returned to Kansas City in 2001 where they made their home.
Carl Virgle was a farmer, owned a farm to market milk route and was a roofer. He also worked for 30 years for the Ford Motor Company in Claycomo, MO where he retired in 1987.
He was a member of the VFW in Plattsburg, and the United Auto Workers Local Union #249. Carl Virgle was a devoted family man who loved his children and grandchildren.
Carl Virgle was preceded in death by his parents, eight brothers, Cecil, Thurman, Auzy, Charles, Wilfred, John, Cleo and Garland; and one sister, Gertrude Herndon.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elsie of the home; three daughters and husbands, Evelyn and Mike Page, Woodbridge, VA, Cheryl and Phil Christensen, Claycomo, MO, and Deborah and James Walters, Kearney, MO; son and wife, David and Lori Ford, Lexington, SC; twenty-two grandchildren, David and Auri, Bobby and Sara, Andy and Danna, Jesse, Nate, Jimmy and Anna, Jeremy and Angela, Jessica and Nate, Joel, Jared, Jeffrey, Megan, Cassidy, Sydney, Eric and Aimee; eight great-grandchildren, Miles, Sarah, Bradley, Courtney, David, Drake, Cloe, and Payton; one sister, Helen McNabb, Aurora, MO; one brother, Glenn Ford, Hermitage, MO; one sister-in-law, Hazel Ford, Kansas City, MO, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral |Service: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, October 2nd at Claycomo Baptist Church
Burial with Military Honors: Grayson Cemetery Grayson, MO
Visitation: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday at the Church
