Carl H. Swett

Carl H. Swett, 90, of Savannah, MO passed away, Tuesday, February 21, 2017.

He was born on March 10, 1926 to Orvall and Nina Grace (Evans) Swett in Delphos, IA where he grew up and attended school.  He then served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. 

On August 10, 1951 he was united in marriage to Luella Mae Clayton.  After their marriage, they lived in Union Star, Maysville, Agency, Gower and Easton. In 1976 they moved to Savannah where they made their home.  His wife, Luella, passed away, September 30, 2012.

Carl worked as an over-the-road truck driver for Western Trucking and Koss Trucking. He worked for Schuster Farms in Gower, Seitz, Swift and Company and West Tab, all in St. Joseph.  Carl also worked for Carnation-Friskies Pet Care in St. Joseph for over 19 years.

He was also preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Wilford and Loren Swett, and sister, Mary Lucille Novak.

Carl is survived by his children, Carl E. Swett, Yoder, CO, Robert Swett, St. Louis, MO, John Paul Swett, Ozark, MO, James Swett, Bowling Green, MO, Rita Diane Lale, Steger, IL, Debbie Boydston, Smithville, MO, and Donna Goodrich, Savannah, MO; grandchildren and great grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service:  11:00 a.m. Monday, February 27th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial: Mt. Auburn Cemetery, St. Joseph.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I was fortunate to be able to meet Carl and the rest of the family at the Delphos 100 year centennial when I came up with my grandfather Loren Sweet. I also met Joe who took me motorcycle riding. My number is 423.475.0430.
