Carl Emil Statz
Carl Emil Statz, 65, of Smithville, MO, passed away Sunday, August 21, 2011.
He was born on December 6, 1945 to Carl and Margaret (Moon) Statz in Cleveland, Ohio. Carl graduated Euclid High School in Cleveland, OH January 11, 1963. He then served his country in the US Army supervising Hawke Missile operations in Germany. Carl received his Bachelors Degree from New Hampshire College on September 15, 1995 accomplishing a 20 year journey.
On May 2, 1987 he was united in marriage to Phyllis M. Knowlton. After their marriage they lived in Massachusetts and Maine then settled in Smithville, MO in 1994.
He was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Smithville, the Smithville Chamber of Commerce and the Kansas City Regional Association of Realtors. Carl’s passionate love of all that was nature and its animals was trusted, recognized and returned by the creature-friends that he sought to protect. He enjoyed art, Big Band music, Nascar Racing and loved to cook always being counted upon for the Martha’s Ministry dinners.
Carl was very active in the Computer Industry managing the daily operations the clearing house for the 14 banks in the Cleveland, OH area. His specialty was in the area of research and development programming to improve the efficiency of systems operation in general. His work involved the fields of Finance/Banking, Hospital/Medical, Clothing and Food Industry, as well as, a variety of Government platforms. He streamlined and improved their operational efficiency recovering financial losses as well as material oversights. At the end of his 35+ year career he was consulting a wide variety of projects that too him coast to coast working on the Larger Computers that preceded what we know today as computer systems. He continued his passion for Computing by making computers for a number of his acquaintances and friends.
He was preceded in death by parents and his first wife Elaine.
Carl is survived by his wife, Phyllis, daughter Lynn-Marie Statz and stepchildren: Christopher Embelton and wife Dee, Tara Perron and husband Jerry; as well as 2 grandchildren: Annabella and Morgen; other relatives and many friends.
Rosary and Funeral Mass: 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, August 24th at the Good Sheppard Catholic Church, Smithville.
Arrangements: Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
