C.B. Coffey
C.B. Coffey, 93, of Camden Point, MO, passed away, Wednesday, December 30, 2009 at Hillview Nursing and Rehab in Platte City, MO.
Claude Benton Coffey was born on October 23, 1916 to Ward and Ina Marie (Jacks) Coffey in Platte County, Missouri. C.B. grew up in Platte County and in 1935 graduated from Camden Point High School.
On July 3, 1937 he was united in marriage to Nellie Baber. After their marriage they lived in Platte County, moving to Camden Point in 1946, where they made their home.
C.B. worked at the North American Bomber Plant. He later worked as a heavy equipment operator for many years and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 101. He was a member of the Camden Point Christian Church. C.B. served as Mayor of Camden Point, was a volunteer fire fighter and served on the Camden Point Fire Protection District, and was also a member of the Camden Point Masonic Lodge AF&AM #169 for over 60 years.
C.B. was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter, Virginia M. Perkins.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Nellie, of the home; faithful son-in-law, Donald Perkins, Camden Point; grandson, Neal Perkins, Trimble, MO; granddaughter, Nelda Rathert and husband, Bill, Nortonville, KS; great-grandchildren, Adam Rathert and wife, Leslie, Nortonville, KS, Derek Rathert, Wathena, KS, and Cynthia Rathert, Leavenworth, KS; two great-great-grandchildren, Aiden Rathert and Bailey Jenkins; brother, John Coffey and wife, Carlene, Kansas City, MO; and sister, Norma Dungan, Clay Center, KS; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 2nd at the Camden Point Christian Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Burial: Camden Point Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the church or the Camden Point Fire Dept.
