BYRON K. HARRIS
Byron Keith Harris, 86, of Gower, MO, passed away, Friday, December 29, 2006 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in St. Joseph, MO.
He was born on June 10, 1920 to Thomas Banks and Bertha Dena (Cartmill) Harris near Meca, MO. Keith graduated from Gower High School, and later attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville. He then served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during WWII.
On December 18, 1948 he was united in marriage to Alta Fern King. After their marriage they lived in the Gower area, where they farmed and raised Polled Hereford Cattle, and registered Suffolk Sheep. They later moved to Gower where they made their home.
Keith was a member of the Gower Christian Church where he served as an Elder and was given the honor Elder Emeritus. He was also a member of the Gower Masonic Lodge and the Gower American Legion Post #393. Keith was active in the Meals On Wheels Program, delivering meals around Gower.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Keith is survived by his wife, Alta; two daughters, Elaine Rose and husband, Larry, Mound City, MO, and Amy Doepke and husband, David, Moberly, MO; six grandchildren, Tim, Jeremy, and Kerri Rose, Megan and Kevin Bloss, Kayla Spurling, and Abby Doepke, great-grandchildren, Hillary and Kenley Bloss, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2nd at the Gower Christian Church, Gower, MO.
