Brooks Wilkerson
Brooks Wilkerson, 90, of Smithville, Mo., passed away, Wednesday, January 26, 2005 at North Kansas City Hospital.
He was born on November 2, 1914 to William Barlow and Alta Blanche (Borgmier) Wilkerson in Clay County near Mt. Olivet, where he grew up. In 1932 Brooks graduated from Smithville High School.
On April 6, 1935 he was united in marriage to Hazel Marie Colley. After their marriage they lived and farmed in Smithville and Paradise. His wife, Hazel, passed away on June 8, 1988.
Brooks also worked in construction, and retired in 1976 as the head custodian for the Smithville School District.
He was a member of the Paradise Christian Church where he served as an Elder, and attended the Hoover Christian Church. Brooks was also a member of the Smithville Alumni Association and was a charter member of the Smithville Chapter of the FFA.
Brooks was also preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his daughter, Nannetta Bishop and husband, Larry, Enid, Ok., two grandsons, Roger Hughes and wife, Evadna, Smithville, Mo., and James Randall ?Randy? Hughes, Edmond, Ok., five great-grandchildren, Miranda, Patrick, Khrista, Connor, and Cloie, step-granddaughter, Jennifer Ortiz and husband, Smiley, Enid, Ok., and two step-great-grandchildren, Julie and Jonathan.
Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 29th at the Hoover Christian Church, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
Burial: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville, Mo.
Donations may be made to the Hoover Christian Church.
