In Remembrance Of
Bob Harris
Robert (Bob) Lee Harris, Jr, 56, of Smithville, Missouri passed away at his residence Thursday, December 19, 2024.
He was born on April 21, 1968, to Robert Lee and Sheila (Russell) Harris in St. Joseph, Missouri. On October 28, 1995, Bob was united in marriage to Pamela Echternacht. Bob and Pam were partners in life who were always there for each other and loved one another unconditionally. They have two daughters Jordan Ray Harris and Megan Lea Harris who treasured their Dad and vice versa. He took every phone call and was always available to them.
His humor was a great distraction for them during any difficult times. They shared his love for music and will always remember his positive and lighthearted attitude. His presence made them feel safe and protected.
Bob grew up in Plattsburg, Missouri and graduated from Plattsburg High School. He attended one year of college at Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg and then enlisted in the United States Air Force during which time he served as a crew chief for the KC-135 Stratotanker. After the Air Force, he worked for Southwest Airlines then switched to a sales representative position joining his Dad at Lawson Products. After Lawson Products, he went to work at Kimball Midwest where he continued to work until the day of his death. Many of his customers became close lifelong friends who greatly respected him. During what free time he had, Bob enjoyed farming and working with cattle. He enjoyed the quiet moments out in the middle of the field with the cattle. It was important for him to carry on his family’s farm legacy and worked at it diligently. He was well known among his family, friends, and coworkers that he was always the first to step in and help but also the first one to pull pranks and have the last laugh.
Bob was preceded in death by his father Robert (Bob) Lee Harris Sr. along with his maternal and paternal grandparents and aunt.
He is survived by his wife Pam, daughters Jordan and Megan, mother Sheila Harris and sister Shonna Harris both of Plattsburg, several nieces and nephews and his beloved dogs Peewee and Blue, grand dogs Nova and Nitro, and grand cat Cheese.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 23rd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home in Smithville with visitation following until 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests you donate to local animal shelters or local American Legion.

To the Family of Bob Harris: I have only lived in the area and known Bob for 5 years. As we moved into the community he was one of the first to lend a hand and stop in when I needed help. Soon became a very good friend. Loved and respected as a great man. Yes, the humor and whit were one of his greatest strengths. Always only a call away and ready to give advice or share a connection with someone who could help as well. It is hard to think that I won’t be rolling up to “Bob’s” and seeing him in the shop or the UTV with a big smile on his face. Truly an amazing human and treasured forever! May God grant you peace and happiness as we reflect on the blessings of having him in our lives.

Bob was a great friend and had the most wonderful sense of humor. We lost touch over the years as I moved away in my 20s, but I will always remember him as a dear friend. I will also never forget all of the laughter and adventures we shared in our youth. Rest in peace, brother.

I lost a wonderful neighbor named Bob. He was a great family man, a hard worker, a watchman who was quick with lending a hand (or a tool!) and quick to crack a grin. Thank you for being a great friend Bob. You will be missed!!

Bobby, not only were you my oldest and best friend you were a brother. You and your family were always there for me. We always had a great time together and no matter how long it was between get togethers, we picked it up like no time had passed. I will miss you more than you know. Love you man!

My heartfelt condolences to the Harris Family. I’ve known Bobby since kindergarten and we were high school classmates graduating together. I can still recall his corny jokes and infectious laugh. He was always there to lend a helping hand or cheer you up whenever you needed it. Although it’s been years since graduation, and I haven’t seen him in person more than a handful of times, the Motley Crue (Sheiks) of our graduating class, whom Bobby was a part of, will always hold a special place in my memories. Rest in peace, Bobby. Until we meet again, my old friend. Valhalla

This news is so heartbreaking my friend. I know the years have gone by and none of us get to see each other often. But the times we did get will greatly be missed. Love you brother and God Bless you to Pam and family as you mourn. 🙏
