Blanche J. (Ashton) Masoner
Blanche J. Masoner, 89, of Topeka, Kansas, formerly of Edgerton, Mo., passed away, Saturday, March 29, 2008.
She was born on March 25, 1919 to Clarence Joseph and Josephine (Cline) Ashton in Williamsburg, Kansas where she grew up and graduated from high school. Blanche then lived in Ottowa, Kansas and later moved to Kansas City, Missouri.
On May 27, 1972 she was united in marriage to Melvin E. “Scrapper” Masoner. After their marriage they lived in Edgerton, Missouri until 1978 when they moved to Checotah, Oklahoma. Her husband, Scrapper, passed away, November 2, 1997. In 2005 Blanche moved to Topeka, Kansas.
Blanche worked as a nurse’s aid at Spelman Hospital in Smithville for many years and was a Foster Mother to many children.
She was a member of the Brush Hill Baptist Church in Checotah, Oklahoma.
Blanche was also preceded in death by her parents, one son, David Reeves, her first husband, Chester Reeves, two sisters, and three brothers, and granddaughter, Dana.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Reeves and wife, Pat, Smithville, MO, Jack Reeves, Salt Lake City, Utah, step-daughter, Shirley Hellyer, Edgerton; fourteen grandchildren, numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including, Blanche “Sue” Foster and husband, Roger, Topeka, Kansas, and special adopted granddaughter, Betty Davis, Checotah, OK.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 4th at Ridgely Cemetery, Ridgely, MO.
Visitation: 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton.
