Billie (Carpenter) Atchison

Billie Atchison, 80, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Thursday, November 27, 2014.

 

She was born on July 2, 1934 to Herman Dale and Margaret Bessie (Simkins) Carpenter in Blue Eye, Arkansas.  Billie graduated from Fairfield High School in Fairfield, IL.

 

On July 9, 1953 she was united in marriage to Charles Douglas Atchison.  After their marriage they lived in Arkansas and later moved to Kansas City where they made their home.

 

Billie retired after working for several years in the offices for Dr. Gunn, Dr. Peete, and Dr. Jennett all in Kansas City.

 

She was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Edgerton, MO.

 

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, brothers EC Carpenter and Zeke Carpenter and two great-granddaughters Krystle Tipton and Del’Mya Wilson.

 

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Charles; children Ken Atchison and wife Nancy, Karen Smith and husband Bob, Skeeter Atchison and wife Hope, and Kevin Atchison and wife Leslie; granddaughter whom they raised Nikki Beebe; sixteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; brothers Gene Carpenter and wife Shirley, Don Carpenter and wife Glenda; sister Mary Clark and husband Lynn; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. 

 

Funeral Service:  4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 30th with visitation from 2:00-4:00 p.m. prior to the service all at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton

Inurnment:  1:00 p.m. Saturday, December 6th at Omaha Cemetery, Omaha, Arkansas

Donations may be made to the church.
