Bill Kimbel
Bill Kimbel, 73 of Platte City, MO formerly of Lawrence, KS passed away, Sunday, June 9, 2013.
He was born on September 21, 1939 to Lee P. and Evelyn E. (Allen) Kimbel in Cape Girardeau, MO. He grew up in the Scott City-Illmo MO area and graduated from Illmo Fornfeldt High School. Bill received his Masters in Divinity at Anderson University in Anderson, IN.
On April 7, 1961 he was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Hamilton. After their marriage they lived in Cape Girardeau, MO and he worked in auto parts. In 1970 they moved to Memphis, TN and he worked with Westinghouse and Otis Elevators. He was called into the ministry and pastored his first church in his hometown Illmo, MO in 1974. During his 32 years of ministry he pastored in Missouri, Nebraska, Washington, Michigan, and Kansas. While pastoring in Fairbury, NE he drove a school bus. Bill served as a member of the Ministerial Credentials Committee in all 5 states. He served as Chaplain at hospitals in Fairbury, NE and Lawrence, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bill is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; three daughters, Rebecca Geister and husband Frank, Kimberly Praiswater and husband Mike, all of Platte City, MO and LeAnn White and husband Dave, Omaha, NE; nine grandchildren, Shannon Sorensen and husband John, Christopher Biggs, Chuck Darrow, Anastasia Geister, Shane Praiswater and wife Melissa, Zachary Praiswater and wife Betsy, Amanda Miller and husband Brett, Jessica Gartrell and husband Greg, and Jacob Fechner; great-grandchildren, Luis, Hector, Kayleigh, Beverly, Samuel, Eliza, Jackson, Michael and Kentley; sister, Mary Baker and husband Bill; brother, Tom Kimbel and wife Jodie; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services: 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 14th at Christ Chapel in Platte City, MO.
Burial: Platte City Cemetery.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the church.
Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
