BILL AKER
John William “Bill” Aker, 79, of Smithville, MO, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2006 at his home.
He was born on October 28, 1926 to Bryan and Maude Lea (Tritt) Aker in Smithville, MO. The family moved to California during the depression and Bill later returned to Smithville.
On January 16, 1955 he was united in marriage to Patricia Engebretsen in California. After their marriage they lived in Santa Monica, California and in 1971 moved to Smithville where they made their home.
Bill owned and operated Bill’s 66 Station in Smithville until 1981. He then became head mechanic for Clay County Parks and Recreation, retiring on Dec. 31, 1994.
He was a member of the Grace Community Church and a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, both in Smithville.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Lucille (Kelsey) Aker, brother, Carlyle Aker, great-grandson, Andrew Whitham and son-in-law, James Obermark.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of the home, five children, Patty Bogan and husband, Victor, O‘Fallon, MO, Donna Whitham and husband, Ronnie, Smithville, MO, Frieda Obermark, Edgar Springs, MO, Bryan Aker and wife, Carol, Platte City, MO, and Timothy Aker, Smithville, MO, five grandchildren, Angela Bogan, Todd Bogan, Kimberly Miller, Jeff Whitham, Rhonda Linder, Angela Tritico, Justin Aker and Lauren Aker, ten great-grandchildren, Matthew, Rachael, Hailey, Katie, Tara, Steven, Brittany, Charles, Destiny, and Keanna, other relatives and many friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 12:00 p.m. , Saturday, July 22nd at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville, with Visitation from 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. , prior to the service
BURIAL: I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Smithville
Donations: Grace Community Church Building Fund or Northcare Hospice
