Beverly “Bezz” D. Walkup

Beverly “Bezz” D. Walkup, 84, of Gower, MO passed away, Monday, August 22, 2011.

He was born on June 24, 1927 to Earl and Georgia Anna (Thacker) Walkup near Frazier, MO. Bezz graduated from Gower High School where he played football and baseball.

On June 8, 1969 Bezz was united in marriage to Lois Jean McPike Walker in Frazier. After their marriage they lived in St. Joseph and in 1971 they moved to the family home place in the Frazier Community, rural Agency, where they made their home and he farmed. His wife, Lois, passed away, March 1, 1998.

Bezz was a member of the Frazier Baptist Church. He loved all animals especially his cows, “Bully” the bull and his newly acquired horse. Bezz always enjoyed his Saturday nights and dancing.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter Sheri Ann in 1971, his parents, brother, Vincent D. “Toe” Walkup and a sister-in-law, Ardis Ann Cole.

Bezz is survived by his step-son, Randy Walker; step-grandsons, Marty and Justin Walker; sisters-in-law, Thelma L. Walkup and Marcia Lee Shanholtzer; nephew, Daryl Walkup and wife Pat; nieces, Cheryl Budine and husband Ron, and Rita Ellington and husband Gary; several great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many close friends including Paige Holder and Steve Cusick.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26^th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.

Burial: Frazier Cemetery

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
