Betty Rose (Bishop) Keown
Betty Rose Keown, 83, of Smithville, MO passed away, Thursday, November 1, 2012.
She was born on March 18, 1929 to George and Lela Lenora (Lewis) Bishop in Kansas City, MO where she grew up and attended school. Betty attended Penn Valley College and received her R.N. Degree.
Betty worked at the University Hospital in Kansas City and Spelman Memorial Hospital in Smithville, and retired in 1988.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Smithville.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Raymond Mason, two daughters, Theresa Kyle and Lela Hammer.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Silverstein, Overland Park, KS, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and longtime companion, Charles Helwig.
Graveside Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 3rd at Smithville Memorial Cemetery.
Arrangements Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
In lieu of flowers Donations to St. Luke’s Hospice.
