Betty Jean Glenn
Betty Jean Glenn, 93, of Platte City, MO, formerly of St. Joseph, MO passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016.
She was born on June 14, 1923 to Doris Bynum and Althea Virginia (Wyatt) Ford in Dearborn, MO where she grew up and graduated from Dearborn High School. Betty attended business school in St. Joseph.
Betty and her family moved to Platte City in 1954 where they built and operated the first super market in Platte City. She worked for Quaker Oats in St. Joseph in her early years where she made many lifelong friends. Betty enjoyed working until she was 80, when she retired from the Saturn Dealership in Platte City.
She enjoyed playing bridge with her friends in Platte City and was a one time member of the Platte Purchase Chapter DAR.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Jack LaForce, brother Elmo “Jack” Ford, and sisters Dorthea Knoernschild and Virginia Farmer.
She is survived by her children Trudy LaForce and Terry Glenn; grandchildren Heather Ward and husband Lanier, Heidi Triplett and husband Chad, Margaret Glenn-Jones, MD and husband Kevin and Margret’s mother Patsy Glenn, and Lily Glenn; great-grandchildren Allie Ward, Parker Triplett, Owen Triplett, and Elaina Jones; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 6th at the First Christian Church of Platte City with visitation one hour prior at the church.
Burial: Platte City Cemetery
Donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Platte City or the First Christian Church of Smithville
