Betty Jean (Elwell) Neil

Betty Jean Neil, 82, of Kansas City, MO, passed away Monday, January 7, 2013.

 

She was born on May 5, 1930 to Glenn Wood and Delia (Simmons) Elwell in Sedalia, MO.  Betty lived in LaMonte, MO as a child and the Kansas City area since 1972.  She also lived in Warsaw, MO. 

 

Betty worked many jobs throughout her lifetime including The Town and Country Shoe Factory in Warrensburg in the 1960‘s.  She also worked for the Internal Revenue Service and the Kansas City Treasure.  Betty loved home interior and decorating her home.  She enjoyed fishing at Truman Lake and was an animal lover.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband Dwayne Neil, retired Sergeant US Air Force.

 

Betty is survived by four daughters, Sue (Chaney) Brant and husband Dennis, Pleasant Hill, MO, Trudy (Chaney) Simpson and husband Kent, Canton, Michigan, Judy (Chaney) Collins and husband Bob, Smithville, MO and Dixie (Neil) Herken, and husband Karl, Topeka, KS; grandchildren, Julie Simbro, Chris Brant, Dusty Brant, Melinda Collins, Tyler Simpson, Kristen Simpson, Sarah Waterman, Michelle Jackson; great-grandchildren, Kyle Fichtner, Cole Fichtner, Jeremy Brant, Aubrey Brant, and Collin Huffman; brothers, Larry Wilson, Shawnee, KS and Steve Elwell, Knob Noster, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Service:  12:30 p.m. Friday, January  11^th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation one hour prior to the service. 

Burial: Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS
