Berniece L. (Hendrix) Rowland

Berniece Louise Rowland, 90, of Savannah, MO, formerly of Edgerton, MO passed away, Wednesday, January 21, 2015.

 

She was born on August 29, 1924 to Charles Estil and Rachel Elvira (Turner) Hendrix near Edgerton where she grew up and attended school, and later moved to St. Joseph.

 

On May 20, 1977 she was united in marriage to Jonathan Rowland.  After their marriage they lived in Claycomo, Albany, and in 1995 moved to Savannah where they made their home.  They enjoyed country music, fishing, camping, and taking long drives.  Her husband, John, passed away, October 31, 2005.

 

B worked for Armours Packing House, National Bellas Hess, Noma Lites, Methodist Medical Center and retired form Liberty Hospital in 1989.  She was awarded the Super Nurse Award from the Greater Kansas City Health Care Association in 1988.  B was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Savannah.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Elizabeth Hutchings, Oneta Maxfield, and Catherine Woods, and her brother John C. Hendrix.

 

B is survived her children, Ronnie Anderson and wife Betty, St. Joseph and Barbara Hoyt and husband George, Savannah; seven step-children, Judy Roettgen, Topeka, KS, Ronald Rowland, Lawrence, KS, Cindy Prouty, Mattawan, MI, Carl Rowland, Vicksburg, MI, Debbie Grafton, Cantonment, FL, Sue Dingman, Michigan City, IN, and Elaine Hettings, Buffalo, MI; five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and nine great-great grandchildren; sister Shirley Kimsey, Platte City, MO; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

 

Funeral Service:  2:00 p.m. Friday, January 23rd with visitation one hour prior at First Presbyterian Church, Savannah, MO.

Burial:  Savannah Cemetery
