Bernice Faye (Hunt) Turner

Bernice Faye Turner, 78, of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2009.

She was born on May 14, 1930 to Theodore Cyrus and Thelma Faye (Miller) Hunt in Kansas City, MO where she grew up in the Gashland area and lived most of her life within one mile of her childhood home. Bernice graduated from North Kansas City High School in 1948.

On July 17, 1949 she was united in marriage to John H. Turner. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City where they made their home.

Bernice worked as a secretary for Midland International in Kansas City for many years, and retired in 2003 from KK Custom in North Kansas City.

She was a member of the Hoover Christian Church and related that she first recognized Christ calling her to salvation when she was a teenager at a “tent meeting” in Gashland.

Bernice was preceded in death by her parents, one sister-in-law, Nancy Hunt and one brother-in-law, Forest Anderson.

She is survived by her husband of 59 years, John of the home; one son, Wayne Turner and wife, Rachel, Toledo, OH; brother, T.C. Hunt, Liberty, MO; five grandchildren, Tyson, Adam and wife, Tiffany, Hunter and wife, XinXin, Heidi, and Hans; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill and Marge Turner, Simeon and Kay Turner, Mary Lee Anderson, Arlene and Jerry Mrkvicka, and Darlene Buckler; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 24th at the Hoover Christian Church, Hoover, MO

Burial: White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Kansas City, MO

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville
