BERNARD D. MEAD

Bernard D. Mead, 72, of Plattsburg, MO, passed away Sunday, April 30, 2006 at his home.

He was born on September 11, 1933 to Robert E. and Martha D. (Summerfield) Mead in rural Hemple, MO where he grew up and in 1951 graduated from Plattsburg High School. Bernard then served his country as a military police officer in the US Army during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he returned to the Plattsburg area.

On November 1, 1958 he was united in marriage to Charlotte Everett. After their marriage they lived in rural Plattsburg where they farmed and made their home.

Bernard was a member of the Bethany Christian Church, the Stewartsville American Legion Post #508 and the East Buchanan Booster Club. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their various activities.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert E. Mead, Jr., and brother-in-law, Ed Carpenter.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Charlotte of the home, daughter, Janis Curran and husband, David, St. Joseph, MO, son, Roger Mead and wife, Beth, Gower, MO, five grandchildren, Lauren Johnson and husband, Scott, Leigh Mead, Andrew Mead, Kaysie Curran and Spencer Curran, an expecting great-grandson, Trey Johnson, twin sister, Beverly Carpenter, St. Joseph, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 3rd at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower
Burial with Military Flag Folding: Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 Tuesday at the funeral home.

Donations to the Kendallwood Hospice or the Bethany Christian Church.
