Barbara Kay Wright

Barbara Kay Wright, 70, of Gower, MO passed away Wednesday, November 1, 2017.
 
She was born on February 17, 1947 to Carroll and Alice Winifred (Grimsley) Gatewood in Emporia, KS where she grew up and graduated from Americus High School.  Barbara received her Bachelor of Science in  Education from Missouri Western State College in St. Joseph, MO and her Master’s Degree in Education from Northwest Missouri University in Maryville, MO.
 
On June 25, 1966 she was united in marriage to Frank LeRoy Wright.  After their marriage they lived in Rantoul, IL, Laredo, TX and in 1969 they moved to Tulsa, OK.  In 1971, they moved to Gower, MO where they
made their home.  
 
Barbara was lifelong active member of the Gower Christian Church where she served on many boards.  
 
Barbara was a teacher at Ellis Elementary School in Plattsburg, MO where she retired in May of 2009.  She was a member of the Missouri State Teachers Association and was a past President of the Missouri
State Retired Teacher Association.   
 
She was preceded in death by her parents.
 
Barbara is survived by her husband Frank Wright; children Brian Wright and wife Gwen and Cassie Wright; grandchildren Ashley and Kristen; brother Roy Gatewood and wife Kay; sister Karol Ann McChesney and husband Don; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.  
 
Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 2nd at the Gower Christian Church 
Funeral Service:  10:00 a.m. Friday, November 3rd at the church.
Burial:  Mt. Zion Cemetery, Gower, MO
Donations may be made to the church.
