B. Robert Ward

B. Robert Ward, 77, of Kansas City, MO passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at his home.

He was born on October 29, 1933 to John Ernest and Louise May (Stewart) Ward in Winona, KS. Robert attended Manual and Paseo High Schools both in Kansas City. He then attended Ft. Hayes State College in Ft. Hayes, Kansas. Robert then served his country in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War from May 1952 to May 1955.

On October 4, 1960 he was united in marriage Alice Ann Self. After their marriage they lived in the North Kansas City area where they made their home.

Robert started working for the American Hereford Association in 1961 and retired in 1997. He enjoyed fishing and gardening and loved being with his family, his grandchildren and his beloved dog Peaches.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James Ward and John Ward and sisters, Jo Ann Womack and Ernestine Autenrieth.

Robert is survived by his wife, Alice of the home, two sons, G. Robert Ward and Matthew Stewart Ward and wife, Mindy; one daughter Melinda L. Ward; grandson, Patrick Ward; granddaughter, Delaney Ward; brother, Richard Ward and wife, Ruth; sister, Nancy Tate; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 29^th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service.

Burial with Military Honors: Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS
