Arthur Lee Jackson

Arthur Lee Jackson, 94, Gower, passed away December 16, 2015 at his home.

He was born May 9, 1921 in Edgerton, MO.  Arthur graduated from Gower High School in 1939 and was drafted into the US army in 1942. He served as a Technician Fourth Grade in the 467th Engineer Maintenance Company. Arthur served the Army in Central Europe, Ardennes, Rhineland, Northern France, and Normandy. He was awarded 5 Bronze Stars and a Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged in October, 1945 and went on to serve in the Army Corps of Engineers for 3 years.

Arthur married T. Louise Blake on December 22, 1945 in Kansas City, MO. She survives of the home.

Arthur was a life-time carpenter and farmer. He enjoyed conversation with friends and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gower.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Harvey and Opal May (Hawkins) Jackson; brother Harvey Eugene Jackson; brother-in-law, Bud Meade and sister-in-law, Beverly Jackson.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Louise; sister, Mariane Meade, Kansas City; son, Gary (Susie) Jackson, Osborn, MO; daughter, Marcene (Michael) Robertson, Eagle River, AK; sister-in-law, Lavada (Robert) Devling, Wathena, KS; grandchildren, Jeremy (Jamie) Jackson, Ashley Jackson (Brandon), Shelby (Daniel) Vorenkamp, Sheryl, Shaelyn, and Shayne Robertson; great-grandchildren, Abigayle, Alyson, Adelynne, Aiden, and Kaidyn; and cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorial Service: 3;00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, at Hixon-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, MO. The family will receive friends and visitors one hour prior to service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Gower First Baptist Church and/or Comfort Care Hospice, Cameron, MO.
