Arthur Jackson Witt
He was born on April 23, 1936 to Alexander Jackson and Esther Florence (Gathers) Witt in Hinton, Oklahoma. When Arthur was 12 years old the family moved to the family farm south of Gower. He graduated from Gower High School in 1954 where his two favorite things were football where he was a lineman, and his sweetheart Dorothy.
On February 16, 1957 he was united in marriage to Dorothy Ann Akers. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Gower.
Arthur worked for Geeco and retired as a machinist from Gray Manufacturing after over 35 years.
He was a member of the Gower Baptist Church. Arthur loved a variety of farm animals, fishing, and loved playing practical jokes on anyone he could. He had an amazing sense of humor leaving us with many funny memories.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents; sister Sherry Witt; and two infant sons.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Witt; children Charles Witt and wife Linda; Joy Shaver and husband Stan and Mary Ray and husband Jason; grandchildren Christopher (Angela) Witt, Melissa (Jeff) Miller, Beth Verbick, Megan (Jacob) Taylor, Caleb (Mary Jo) Shaver, Alex (Lindsay) Ray and Kelsey Ray; great-grandchildren Jackson, Henry, Eli, Abby, Greta, Grace, Landry, Beau, Chloe, Eden and Tyler; sister Mari Sue Pease; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 6th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower.
Burial: Allen Cemetery, Gower.
Donations may be made to the Frazier Baptist Church for the Building Fund.
