Alva Frank “Jack” Horn

Alva Frank “Jack” Horn, 82, of Gower, MO passed away Friday, September 21, 2012.

He was born on June 15, 1930 to Alva Frank and Clara Lee (Strange) Horn in Kansas City MO. Jack attended school in Gower and Edgerton.

On June 1, 1949 he was united in marriage to Charlene Lindsay. After their marriage they lived in rural Edgerton and Smithville. In 1955, they moved to Montoursville, Pennsylvania where he was the Plant Manager for Nashua Manufacturing. They returned to rural Gower in 1962 where they farmed and made their home. Jack owned and operated Horns Farm Supply for over 20 years.

Jack was a member of the First Baptist Church in Gower and served on the Hebron Cemetery Board. He was also a member of the East Buchanan School Board where he served as president. Jack’s greatest enjoyment was being on the farm. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three infant sisters, Mary Lee, Bettie Jane and Mildred Lucille.

Jack is survived by his wife of 63 years Charlene of the home; children, Bonnie Jakylovich and husband John, Betty Hensley and husband Jerry, Bob Horn and wife Kathi, Bryan Horn and wife Gail, and Brad Horn and Steffanie; grandchildren, Lindsay, Kyle, Jodi, Jacqueline, Jamie, Ryan, Jonathan, Lauren, Joshua, Erica, Christopher, Angie and Charlsi; nineteen-great-grandchildren with two on the way; sister Joann McMillen; several nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 24th at the First Baptist Church, Gower.

Burial: Hebron Cemetery, Gower

Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church or the cemetery.
