Alva Belle (Carr) Lambert

Alva Belle (Carr) Lambert passed from this life to her eternal life on January 22, 2013 at the Gower Convalescent Center.

She was born on January 22, 1922 to John Andrew and Laura Alice Carr in Agency, Missouri.  She graduated from Agency High School and worked for Noma Lights and Westab.

On April 22, 1943 she was united in marriage to Ralph Eldon Lambert in Atchison, Kansas.  They  made their home in Atchison for the duration of World War II, and then moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico.  They ultimately returned to Atchison and briefly lived in Manhattan¸ Kansas before settling in Salina, Kansas.  He preceded her in death in 2000.

Alva Belle was a devoted mother, wife and homemaker while raising her four children.  She was an amazing cook and a wonderful seamstress.  After her children were grown, she went to work for Kenwood View Nursing Home and worked there for 30 years, retiring shortly after her 85th birthday.  She enjoyed going to work every day and visiting with the “old folks” as she called them.  She never said an unkind word about anyone.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her mother and father, two brothers, Elmer Carr and John (Jr.) Carr of Agency, Missouri and two sisters, Roma Shoemaker of Agency, and Pauline Henderson of Easton.  She was also preceded in death by a beloved daughter-in-law, Francie Weber Lambert.

Alva Belle is survived by three sons, Ralph “Bud” Lambert, Paul Lambert, and James Lambert, all of Salina and a daughter, Rhonda Dittmar and husband Glenn  of Agency, Missouri, nine grandchildren, Ralph (Kirby) Lambert, Donald Dittmar,  Douglas Dittmar, Maggie Dittmar, Andy Lambert and wife Stacy, Alyse Lambert, Evan Lambert , Emily Barletta and Adam Barletta, four great-grandchildren, Haley, Taylor and Jackson Dittmar and Andrew Lambert II, numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation:  9:00-10:00 a.m. Monday, January 28th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with Graveside Services following at 11:00 am  at Leavenworth National Cemetery

Memorial Visitation:  6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, January 28th at St. Mary’s Queen of the Universe Catholic Church Parish Hall 230 E Cloud, Salina, KS 67401.
