Alta Fern Harris
Alta Fern Harris, 82, of Gower, MO, passed away, Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Oregon Care Center.
She was born on February 2, 1928 to Philo Thomas and Veva Mae (Pemberton) King in Trimble, Missouri. Her mother passed away when Alta was an infant, and her dad remarried Naomi Fulton. They made their home in Weston, MO and she graduated from Weston High School.
On December 18, 1948 she was united in marriage to Byron Keith Harris. After their marriage they lived in the Gower area, where they farmed and raised Polled Hereford Cattle, and registered Suffolk Sheep. They later moved to Gower where they made their home. Her husband, Keith, passed away, December 29, 2006.
Alta was a member of the Gower Christian Church, where she was a Sunday School Teacher for over 40 years. She was also a member of the Chat and Nibble Club.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Alta is survived by her daughters, Elaine Rose and husband, Larry, Mound City, MO, and Amy Doepke and husband, David, Moberly, MO; six grandchildren, Tim, Jeremy and Kerri Rose, Megan and Kevin Bloss, Kayla Spurling, and Abby and Cody Smith; great-grandchildren, Hillary, Kenley and Carter Bloss; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial Service: 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 3rd at the Gower Christian Church.
Inurnment: Allen Cemetery, Gower.
