Alma Elizabeth Taylor
Alma Elizabeth Taylor, 81, of Smithville, MO passed away Sunday, March 4, 2012.
She was born on December 6, 1930 to Archibald and Ivel (Kuhns) Adams in Montréal, Canada. Her family moved to Orlando, FL in 1946 where she graduated from high school in 1948. Alma then attended Southeastern Bible College in Birmingham, AL where she met her husband to be, James Walter Taylor. On June 8, 1952 they were united in marriage in Orlando at Goss Memorial Methodist Church where her father served as an elder. After their marriage, they served as missionaries with Avant Ministries in North Africa and Switzerland. In 1972, they moved to Smithville where they made their home.
Alma worked for the Smithville School District as a Special Ed Teacher Assistant. She also worked for JC Penney at Metro North Mall in Kansas City. All the while, she continued her dedication to ministry which allowed her to touch many lives for the Lord.
She was a member of the Emmanuel Bible Church in Smithville.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Frank Adams; and sisters, Naomi Adams and Barbara Ann Huguley.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of the home; three daughters, Susan Taylor Kildow and husband Jim, Ruth Taylor Slife and husband Russell and Alice Taylor Gordon and husband Tod; grandchildren, Tyler, Brice, Toni, Vance, Breanne, Luke, Taylor, and Whitney; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7th at the First Baptist Church, Smithville
Burial: Smithville Memorial Cemetery
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the church.
