Alma Amelia Henrietta (Meyer) Staggs
Alma Amelia Henrietta (Meyer) Staggs, 100, of Camden Point, MO passed away Friday, September 26, 2008 at the home of her daughter, Wanita and Stephen Foster.
She was born on April 18, 1908, to John and Freida Meyer, in East Leavenworth, MO, the oldest of six children. In 1938, Alma went to make her home with her brother, Clarence Meyer in Camden Point, MO. She helped rear his five day old daughter, Wanita, after the death of his wife, Lorene Alexander Meyer.
On April 2, 1978 she was joined in marriage to Wallace P. Staggs. After their marriage they made their home in Dearborn, MO. On July 24, 1988, Wallace passed away and Alma returned to her home in Camden Point.
Alma was a lifelong active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farley, MO, where she enjoyed quilting with the Ladies Aid in later years. She was also a member of the Homemakers Club, and was a 4-H Club leader for several years. Alma enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting, baking cookies weekly and attending Friendly Seniors and Fun and Friendship gatherings. She was a very caring and wonderful “Mom” and “Little Granny”.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Erma Robker and Dorothy Raymond and her brothers, Walter, Otto and Clarence Meyer.
Alma is survived by daughter, Wanita Foster and her husband, Stephen, Camden Point, MO; grandchildren, Randy and David Foster, Stephanie Goodnight and Tamara Manville, great-grandchildren, Andrea Wendt, Rachael Fulk, and Cody, Erin and Janell Manville, several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 29th at the St. John’s Lutheran Church, Farley, MO.
Burial: Dearborn Cemetery
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Edgerton, MO
Donations may be made to the church or Kendallwood Hospice, who also lovingly cared for her.
