Alfred “Sonny” Obermeyer
Alfred Edward “Sonny” Obermeyer, 83, of Platte City, MO passed away June 10, 2024.
He was born on August 29, 1940, to Alfred Edward Obermeyer, Sr. and Martha (Bacchus) Obermeyer in Tampa, KS where he grew up and attended school. He enjoyed fishing in Canada on land his dad had purchased.
Alfred married Judith Ellis. They lived Rushville, MO and later moved to Atchison, KS where they raised their two daughters Dana Rae and Gail Lynn and made their home.
He was in the National Guard and graduated from brick layers school. He was a skilled brick and stone mason and was known for his skill of making knives. His knives were highly sought after and he made and sold several knives over the years. He loved the outdoors, loved fishing and accomplished fur trapper.
He was preceded in death by his parents Martha and Al Obermeyer; and his brother Fred Obermeyer and his sisters Margaret, Sandra and Geraldine.
Alfred is survived by his daughters Dana (Steve) Knighton and Gail Hanson; grandchildren Jacklyn Knighton, Kalvin Knighton, Britney (Dan) Stapleton and Johnathan “Sage” Collins; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends.
