Alfred Leon Harmer
ALFRED LEON HARMER
Alfred Leon Harmer, 92, of Kansas City, MO, formerly of Edgerton, MO, passed away, Thursday, December 15, 2005 at North Kansas City Hospital.
He was born on April 5, 1913 to James and Mattie (Liggett) Harmer in Platte County, MO, where he grew up and graduated from High School. Leon then served his country during WWII in the Army Infantry where he was transferred to the OSS for three and a half years.
On March 12, 1938 he was united in marriage to Mary Ella Holland. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City. Mary Ella preceded him in death on October 12, 1984.
Leon worked as a mechanic for 32 years for Sealtest Dairy and Foremost Dairy both in Kansas City.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Herbert R. and James Floyd Harmer and two sisters, Zelma Pearl Harmer and Arlene Harmer and sister in law, Mae Harmer.
Leon is survived by his sister-in-law, Rosalie Harmer, Kansas City, MO, niece, Janice McLean, San Francisco, California, two great-nephews, Jason and Jeff Mann, other relatives and many friends.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 3:00 P.M., Sunday, at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Edgerton
BURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS: Ridgely, MO, Cemetery
VISITATION: 2:00 p.m. one hour prior to the service at the church.
Donations may be made to the Mt. Zion Baptist Church
