AJ Murphy

Arthur James Murphy, Sr., 90, of Dearborn, MO passed away, December 2, 2020.

He was born on April 15, 1930 to Hiram Benjamin and Edna Parlee (Osborne) Murphy in Zora, MO. AJ grew up near Stover where he attended school. He then served his country in the U.S. Air Force. After his honorable discharge he drove commercial busses for Greyhound carrying passengers all over the United States. AJ worked for the U.S Postal Service and retired after 32 years.

On October 24, 1969 he was united in marriage to Margaret Mae King. After their marriage they lived in Gladstone and made their home in Dearborn for over 40 years. His wife, Margaret, passed away on March 28, 2019.

AJ was a member of Christ Chapel in Platte City.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Zelma Hinken, Jewel Marriott, Millie Cooper, and Pauline Stewart; brothers, Sidney Murphy, John Murphy, and Paul Murphy; stepson, Donnie Leach; granddaughter, Makenzie Hensley.

AJ is survived by his children, Arthur James (Cynthia) Murphy, Jr., Stephanie (Jimmy) Hensley and Shawn Murphy; grandchildren, Hannah, Laura Claire, Connor, Courtney (Cody), Haylie; great-grandson, Colton; step-daughter, Karen Smith; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Funeral Service: 6:00 p.m. Monday, December 7th at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Private Family Graveside Service will be held at Leavenworth National Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the Gower Convalescent Center.
