Adella Mae (Boydston) Foxworthy
Adella Mae Foxworthy, 86, of Kansas City, MO passed away on May 6, 2015.
She was born on May 30, 1928 to Norton Payne and Marvin Anna (Chestnut) Boydston in rural Dearborn, MO where she grew up. Adella graduated from Dearborn High School where she was captain of the basketball team and very active in music and drama. She played the trumpet, sang in the choir and was a member of a quartet and trio. She also won awards in dramatic competitions.
In 1948 she was united in marriage to Mervin Wayne Foxworthy. They were blessed with four children, two boys and two girls. Mervin passed away on July 12, 2003.
Adella was involved in real-estate and retail sales over the years. Her hobbies included gardening, bird watching, playing the piano, and she was an active longtime member of the William Boydston Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. Adella was a loving wife, mother, and enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, her son David Foxworthy, brothers Stanley Boydston, Howard Boydston, Owen Boydston, Irvin Boydston, M.C. Boydston and sisters, Anna Eunice Palmer, and Mildred Lober.
Adella is survived by son Clarence Foxworthy and wife Nancy, Olathe, KS; two daughters Carolyn Foxworthy and Teresa Roland both of Kansas City, MO; three grandsons Kevin Foxworthy and wife Lindsey, Michael Foxworthy and wife Colleen and Caleb Roland and wife Annie; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Hudson, Connor, Delaney, and Vincent; sister Martha Jean Surls and husband Merrill; brother Leonard Boydston and wife Barbara; numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 11th with visitation from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service all at Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.
Burial: Dearborn Cemetery.
