Adam James Read

Adam James Read, 31, of Smithville, MO, passed away, Sunday, December 14, 2008.

He was born on November 13, 1977 to Steven James and Genice Marie (Smith) Read in Smithville, Missouri. He grew up in Plattsburg and graduated from Plattsburg High School in 1996. He then continued his education at Longview Community College where he received his Associates Degree in General Motors ASE Program in 1998.

On October 11, 2008 he was united in marriage to Oleaha Dodson. After their marriage they lived in Paradise near Smithville.

Adam enjoyed drag racing, working on cars, hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed air brush painting. But most of all Adam was someone who will always be known for putting others first.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Anthony J. and Bessie Read, Jack W. Smith, and Charles Harris.

Adam is survived by his wife, Oleaha Read and step-daughter, Telashea Edwards, of the home; parents, Steve and Genice Read, Plattsburg; sister, Stephanie Redd and husband, Benjamin, Kansas City, MO; niece, Carlie Redd, grandmother, Velma Harris, Smithville, MO; numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, and many friends.

Visitation: 6:30-9:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 17th at the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Smithville.

Adam J. Read Memorial Fund has been established at US Bank in Plattsburg.

    I was so very sorry to hear about Adam’s accident. Dont know if he told you but summer before last I ran into him while attending my class reunion. We sat and talked about family most of the evening.
